Fraud Alert! AEP Phone Calls

Quest Federal Credit Union would like to alert our member/owners that there is a phone scam currently going on.

We were alerted by other member/owners that phone calls have been received in which the caller falsely identifies themselves as an employee of AEP (American Electic Power). The caller says that the member/owner has not paid their electric bill and requests immediate information, potentially including personal and financial information. American Electric Power has been contacted and a representative has stated that this is a scam and that AEP does not make phone calls of this nature regarding past due accounts.

Never provide information via phone or email to suspicious requests for personal information (or PI). Instead, hang up, make a note of the date, time, and content of the phone call and let us know about the call or email so we can monitor and alert other member/owners!

Quest member/owners are encouraged to hang up and disregard the phone calls, should you receive them. Additionally, report these calls to local law enforcement and/or Quest Federal Credit Union if you have accidentally provided personal or financial information to the caller.
